ITD should end parking on state highway route
This year is ending just as it has for the past half century. A bypass planned and nothing accomplished. All thanks to a small handful of people who believe the putrid mud pit that runs behind the Panida is a thing of beauty.
They complain about the noise and pollution that it will bring to our glorious town of bars, real estate offices and more bars and real estate offices, without giving thought to the fact that we already have that noise and pollution, and it isn't going to get any better, just more congested.
They also evidently do not consider the fact that you probably won't even notice the car traffic noise, because the increased train traffic in the past 10 years drowns out everything.
If Bill Lewis wants us to write letters, I'm all for it. All of us who want to see the bypass go through should write to the Idaho Transportation Department and ask that all parking (including delivery trucks) must cease immediately on First Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Pine Street and Cedar Street, as they are used as public highways, and parking on a public highway is not allowed.
That would allow at least one more traffic lane through town which should speed up flow.
