Clark Fork falls at Kootenai
HARRISON FLATS — Kendra Willms paced the Kootenai Warriors with 27 points and 11 rebounds in a North Star League victory over the Wampus Cats (5-11, 2-5).
"They came out with a triangle-and-two on (Cassie) Scheffelmaier and (Hannah) Nyrop," Kootenai coach Doug Napierala said.
Even though Scheffelmaier was held to four shots, she still got it done with 15 rebounds five steals and 11 assists. "Most of Cassie's assists went to Kendra Willms under the bucket, and she converted," Napierala said.
Rayna Allen scored eight points and Shaina Gustafson six for Clark Fork, which had trouble getting their offense going. Kootenai (15-2, 7-0) looks like a lock for a state berth, with the Cats, Wallace and Lakeside battling for the second spot.
"We struggled shooting the ball," said Cats' coach Dexter Vogel, whose team was plagued by early foul trouble. "We played a great first half defensively."
Clark Fork is home tonight against Mullan at 7:30 p.m.
