Katherine J. "Kitty" Williford, 96, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Feb. 1, 2007.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, in the Church of God Anderson, 221 S. Division, Sandpoint, Idaho. Pastor Jon Pomeroy will officiate at the services.
Kitty was born on Dec. 18, 1910, in Perkins County, S.D., the daughter of Mathew and Francis (Kralik) Janish. She attended school in White Butte, S.D., moving to Sandpoint in 1928.
She married Herb Wilhelm on June 16, 1929, and he preceded her in death in 1957.
She lived in Careywood and operated a restaurant in Kellogg, also working as a cook at Don's Drive-In in Sandpoint. On Dec. 11, 1959, she married Fay Williford. They operated a saw shop selling Evinrude products and Lombard saws. Fay passed away in 1976 and she continued to operate the saw shop on Cedar Street.
She was a member of the Church of God Anderson and for many years served as treasurer of the church board.
She enjoyed quilting and for many years donated quilt tops to First Lutheran Church for their projects which included relief for Hurricane Katrina. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, tatting and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Jenkens of Parker Dam, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Rex, Ricky, Candy, Randy, Billy, Tracy and Kathy; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Francis Weinrich of Estacada, Ore.; a daughter-in-law, Edna Wilhelm of Sandpoint, Idaho; and dear friend, Nina Pomeroy of Sandpoint, Idaho.
Two sons, a grandson, a granddaughter, a great-grandson, a great-granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
