CLARK FORK — A tough spate of non-league games against 3A schools paid dividends for Clark Fork Thursday night, as they downed Lakeside 52-44 to win the North Star League title.

Mike Martin had 13 points and seven boards, leading the surging Cats (13-6, 9-1) to their eighth straight league win.

"It's a nice accomplishment for those kids," said Cats' coach Brian Powell. "Four of those five starters are back next year."

Jared Broggi added 10 points, Josh Anderson nine, and Thomas McMahon grabbed 10 rebounds as the Cats got contributions from throughout the lineup.

Jeremiah Brunelle scored 12, and Wes Sifford 11 as the Knights (8-11, 2-8) struggled offensively in the second quarter and were never able to recover.

"We built a 12 point lead and kind of hung on," said Powell. "They (Lakeside) never really led, but stayed with us the whole game."

Clark Fork will face the winner of the Wallace and Lakeside in the 1A district tournament next Wednesday.
