Country's founders were men of faith
Although I agree in principal with what Bob Wynhausen wrote in his guest opinion (Feb. 4, Daily Bee), he steps into it once again by stating that many "fundamentalist" Christians take biblical quotes out of context to support a weak argument. For his information many liberals, moderates and even atheists do the same thing.
Moreover, it wasn't just conservatives that objected to using the Quran to be sworn into office. This is a legitimate question to raise. For myself, I could care less what Keith Ellison uses, but he might have spared us all by simply going the affirmation route as Presidents Pierce and Hoover did. But I do know that this country was founded on Christian philosophy, and that's nothing to be disregarded, hidden, or ashamed of. About 95 percent of the framers of our Constitution were indeed evangelical Christians (Jefferson was not a framer). That's just who we are, our foundation.
To just take another swipe at conservatives, as Mr. Wynhausen usually does, will not raise the level of discussion this country needs right now.
