Clark Fork comes back to beat Wallace

| February 21, 2007 8:00 PM

RATHDRUM — In a tale of two halves, Clark Fork was able to erase an 11 point second half deficit to beat Wallace 39-30 in a low-scoring affair at the 1A district tournament Wednesday night at Lakeland High School.

The Miners (11-11) held the Cats (14-6) to a paltry four points in the second quarter. After scoring seven of the first nine points in the second half, Wallace held a commanding 26-15 lead midway through the third quarter. It was all Clark Fork from that point on as they went on a terror, outscoring the Miners 24-4 for the rest of the game.

Nick Arthun led the Miners with nine points, as they were able to put a scare into the red-hot Cats, winners of their last nine games.

Tyler Broggi led the Cats with 15 points, Mike Martin had nine and Cameron Jeffres seven as the Cats proved resilient once again, finding a way to win even when they weren't playing at their best offensively.

Clark Fork will play Coeur d'Alene Charter in the championship game Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Lakeland High School. The two teams split in the regular season. Wallace will play Kootenai in loser-out action at 6 p.m. in the double elimination tournament, which will send two North Star League teams to state.
