| January 3, 2007 8:00 PM

POST FALLS — The Sandpoint boys team came out on fire after a two-week layoff looking sharp and jumping out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter. The rust began to show a little more as Post Falls outscored Sandpoint 51-20 over the final 24 minutes and beat the Bulldogs 59-36 in Inland Empire League play Wednesday night at The Arena.

Drake Hanson led the Bulldogs (4-5, 0-2) with 12 points, and Kyle Gibson and Mat Lawrence added eight apiece as the Bulldogs simply ran out of gas.

Senior Brandon Haas scored 13 points (on 6-of-8 shooting) and grabbed 13 rebounds for Post Falls (6-4, 1-1 IEL).

"Our first five looked like we had a piano on our back," Post Falls coach Dave Stockwell said of the first quarter.

The Trojans switched to a zone defense and pressed in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 18-4.
