Cd'A defeats Sandpoint boys, girls
COEUR d'ALENE — Nate Bligh scored a game-high 21 points and Calvin Peterson had his best night of the season, finishing with 13 points and six steals to lead Coeur d'Alene past Sandpoint in Inland Empire League action.
Peterson was 6 of 6 from the free-throw line and Leon Duplessis finished with eight rebounds and 10 points for the Vikings (9-4, 4-1 IEL).
"We just played solid," Coeur d'Alene coach Kent Leiss said. "Bligh had a heck of a night with 21 points, but I thought was the best game Calvin's ever played."
The Bulldogs (5-8, 1-5 IEL) stayed close through the first quarter, but the Vikings gained a little separation, leading 31-21 at the half.
Drake Hanson finished with 11 points and Kyle Meaux added nine.
Sandpoint travels to Moscow for a big 4A showdown on Friday night.

Girls game: Cd'A 75, Spt 26 — Junior Deanna Dotts totaled 15 points and 13 rebounds for the host Vikings in the IEL game at Elmer Jordan Court.
Sadie Simon added 14 points, Kama Griffitts 13 for Coeur d'Alene (15-2, 9-0 IEL).Brittany Oakley led Sandpoint (1-15, 0-9) with nine points.
"At times we played really well, the score just gets away from you when you're playing a team like that," said coach Jim Alsager of the No. 1 girls team in Idaho. "Our inside game is starting to come around. Alissa Tenuto played really well inside. She had to battle a couple of really big players that would come in fresh."
Sandpoint is at Moscow on Friday.
