Sandpoint claims win in duals

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint has a small group of wrestlers that coach Mike Randles calls their 'usual guns', and they expect to win those battles. But for them to win in duals, they need help from the younger wrestlers, and freshman Scott Paramore stepped up and delivered, wrestling through injuries to record pivotal pins as Sandpoint swept Lake City and Timberlake in duals action Tuesday at Sandpoint High School.

"A freshman picking up two pins is pretty important," said Bulldogs' coach Mike Randles, who was forced to juggle his lineup due to injuries. "Overall we did OK, not where we need to be, but coming along."

The aforementioned usual guns — Kyle Meschko, Jerod Morris, Taylor Morris, Alec Ward and Timmy Pepperdine each won two matches.

"We wrestled up and it exposes things we need to work out," said Timberlake coach Matt Neff, who said his team learned a lot from the match. "Sandpoint is well coached and has sound technique. Sometimes you need to get worked over a little bit to see where you need to improve."
