Panthers hand Wampus Cats a loss

COEUR d'ALENE — Austin Folnagy scored five of his game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to help the Panthers to a North Star League victory over the Wampus Cats on Friday.

Folnagy also grabbed 12 rebounds for Coeur d'Alene Charter (10-2, 4-1).

Cameron Jeffres led Clark Fork (4-5, 1-1) with 14 points. Tyler Broggi and Mike Martin each scored 11, and Thomas McMahon added 10 in the Cats' balanced scoring attack.

"It was back-and-forth, but we handled the pressure and made things happen," Panthers coach Brian Childs said. "Folnagy had a big fourth quarter, and he got after it on the defensive boards all night."

Clark Fork hosts 3A Priest River on Monday.

Drake Hanson scored 11 points to lead the Bulldogs as they fell 59-42 at Moscow Friday night. Brittany Oakley scored 12 to lead the girls, who lost 50-35 to Moscow. The two teams figure to meet again in the 4A North district tournament, where the two teams will battle with Lakeland for the lone state playoff berth.
