Flags capture interest, attention of drivers

Sandpoint might take a look at how another well-known Idaho recreation town, Ketchum, helps main-street crosswalk users. Each non-signalled crosswalk has a set of day-glow orange hand flags in pole racks on each side of the street: pick one up, wave it as you cross, and put it in the rack on the other side. Sure gets driver attention, helps the crosser make eye-contact with the drivers, and makes it fun for kids, etc., when they cross. Yes, they must lose some flags, but hey, that's no biggie …
