Harry Lawrence "Mitch" Mitchell

Harry Lawrence "Mitch" Mitchell, 77, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division Ave., Sandpoint. Dale Coffelt will officiate with interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Military honors will be presented to the US Navy Veteran.

Friends and family may call to pay their respects on Monday, Jan. 29, at Coffelt Funeral Service from 1 to 6 p.m.

Harry was born on Feb. 11, 1929 in Moosejaw, Sask., Canada, and moved to Holmen, Wis., in 1934 where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1946, seeing action in both Korea and Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. He served aboard the USS Ticonderoga, the USS Oak Hill, and the USS Glenn. Mitch retired in 1966, moving to the Seattle area and working as an electrician for Boeing Aircraft.

On April 1, 1972, Mitch moved to Sagle, Idaho, and in 1976 went to work for the Bonner County Sheriff's Office. He helped establish and also managed the Marine Division of the Bonner County Sheriff's Office, retiring from that position in 1993.

On Dec. 10, 1955, Mitch married Donna Richards in LaCrosse, Wis., and they have shared 51 years together.

He is a Past Worshipful Master of Lakeside Lodge #42 AF & AM and had a lifetime membership. He was also part of the Scottish Rite Bodies. Mitch enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on Lake Pend Oreille.

He is survived by his wife Donna Mitchell, Sagle, Idaho; close friends Clarence and Lois Davis, Sagle, Idaho. Sister-in-law, Renee and husband James Wilson of Ashdown, Ark.; nephew, Jeff Leisgang of Lawrence, Kansas. Niece Keli, and husband Mike, Peacock of Corinth, Texas; Nephew David, and wife Sharon, Wilson of Rogers, Ark.; Friends Janice and Chuck Pearmon of Morton, Wash.

His parents preceded him in death.
