Lake City coasts to IEL victory
SANDPOINT — Nick Fromm had 20 points, 10 rebounds and four steals to lead Lake City as they used second chance points to build an early double digit lead and coast to a 53-35 IEL win over Sandpoint Monday night at Les Rogers Court.
It was the third road game in four nights for Lake City (12-5, 6-3), who shook off the weary legs and controlled the paint.
"Fromm had a big game inside," said Lake City coach James Thackery of his junior post. "He kind of had his way in there and was able to convert a lot of second shots down low."
Neither team shot very well, but the Bulldogs' near 10-minute scoring lull in the first half proved too much to overcome. Mat Lawrence led Sandpoint (7-11, 2-8) with 12 points and seven rebounds, and aside from three Ryan Armbruster 3-pointers in the first half, Lake City took away the Bulldogs perimeter game.
"We didn't shoot very well," said Bulldogs' coach Tyler Haynes as his team shot 12-42 from the field. "When Lake City goes up by 15 it's like being down 25. They were more prepared than us; I take full responsibility."
Sandpoint will play their final regular season game at Lakeland in a contest that was moved to Friday night.
