Library thanks community for donations, support

| January 31, 2007 8:00 PM

Thank you, generous members of the community, for your year-end donations to the East Bonner County Library District. More than $3,000 in donations were received at the end of 2006, meeting the goal established for the Friends of the Library matching grant for the library book fund.

Friends of the Library will present a check for the $3,000 match to the library at their Feb. 1, 2007, meeting. This general membership meeting is scheduled for noon, the first Thursday of the month, and the public is welcome.

The donations and matching grant funds will assist the library in providing books for all ages and needs. A special feature of this grant is that $500 matches donations to the popular Sustainable Living Collection. This collection includes materials on environmentally-friendly building, gardening, healthy lifestyles, promoting community and similar topics.

These donations demonstrate the importance residents place on promoting reading and literacy and the matching funds are one example of the Friends of the Library activities which benefit the community. The funds derive primarily from the monthly book sales in the library lobby. The next book sale will be on Saturday, Feb. 3, in the lobby of the Sandpoint library, 1407 Cedar St.
