Base criticism on facts, instead of on hypocrisy

| July 7, 2007 9:00 PM

Addressing Mr. Fury's factually challenged letter in Sunday's paper:

I have never claimed to represent you. However, what "majority" do you represent? Please provide the list you demand of others so you can organize boycotts of anyone with views other than yours.

Do a little research! I have neither a Realtor's license nor art degree. If I did, what would it matter? Does your "degree," or lack thereof, have anything to do with your right to speak? The great thing about our country is everybody has the right to speak, even if there were a definable majority when it comes to a highway in Sand Creek. Clearly there is not.

The Clean Water Act, signed into law many years ago, is neither selective nor hypocritical. It has stood the test of time protecting all our interests. Calling for a vote of whether to obey the law is moot.

Don't put words in my mouth. I never called anyone "stupid," as you claim. Describing a statement as "uninformed" is not name calling. It is an observation, like observing your letter is uninformed, misinforming, and rumor-mongering.

Summarizing your premise: Hearsay from an unnamed someone married to an unnamed someone claiming something that never happened; hearsay discussions with an unknown "disciple"/employee of an unnamed byway opponent; and, research from a YouTube video. Hmmm…

Stating others' arguments are "substantial as cotton candy" with that type of documentation, and calling others "arrogant" and know-it-all, while engaging in that exact behavior seems … hypocritical?
