Paul Andrew McGinty, 88, passed away in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Thursday, July 5, 2007.

Private family services will be held at a later time.

Paul was born in Bedford, Iowa, on Dec. 8, 1918, and moved to California as a child. In 1936 he graduated from high school in Long Beach, Calif., and then attended Long Beach Junior College. He married Violet Krutzfelt on Oct. 19, 1941, in Las Vegas, Nev.

During World War II he worked in the shipyards, as a welder, helping put together the fleet for the war. He later worked as the supervisor of building and grounds for the Little Lake School District in Norwalk, Calif. From 1962 until 1968, he worked as a general contractor in Sonora, Calif. He was the supervisor of building and grounds for Columbia Jr. College, retiring in 1982. He continued living in Columbia, Calif., until moving to Cocolalla, Idaho, in 2003, to be close to his family.

He was a member of the Church of Christ in Sandpoint. He enjoyed hunting and building homes for his family and his friends.

Paul is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Violet McGinty, of Cocolalla; three children, Linda (and Leon) Jones of Avery, Calif., Sharon (and Alan) Martinelli of Cocolalla, and Kurt (and Paula) McGinty of Cocolalla; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip McGinty of Riverbank, Calif., and James McGinty of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and a sister, Ruth Helmuth of Arroyo Grande.

His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
