Lakers' bats heat up in win
SANDPOINT — Zac Manor threw a five-hitter and was one of five Riley Creek players with multiple hits as the Lakers downed Cranbrook 11-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Friday at War Memorial Field.
Manor didn't walk a batter and struck out seven in a tidy six innings of work, keeping the Cranbrook bats quiet while throwing only 80 pitches.
"Zac has just been money on the hill," said Lakers coach Rick Klontz.
Tyler Lichty had three hits, and Cory Hawkins, Dustin Hawkins, Cody Reichart and Manor each added two as the Lakers (19-8-2) broke out of some recent offensive doldrums.
"I'm glad to see us come back and hit, we hadn't been scoring a lot of runs," said Klontz. "We've been stagnant; nice to score some runs."
