Failure to keep promises inexcuable

| July 30, 2007 9:00 PM

They call this progress ?

Picture this:

December 2000 — The Chalet Motel had to make room for "Progress", also known as the widening of Highway 95 by order of the ITD.

July 2007 — Absolutely nothing constructive has been done, other than: Tear down the Chalet Lodge and four units, dig up the swimming pool and convert the acquired 40 feet of highway frontage into an ugly free-for-all walking and bike riding area, overgrown with 2- to 3-foot high weeds (which they don't cut), making my property look like the infamous "Tobacco Alley."

No consideration is given to the fact that I still reside on the property, that the entrance to it has been demolished and the ditches destroyed. My entrance should have been kept intact and the ditches restored to their original conditions. I received promises from various people "in charge" — but none have been kept. My frustration and anger are beyond words.

Shame on you, ITD.

Every year I get one of ITD's fairy tale brochures called "Statewide Transportation Improvement Program." What do they want me to do with it, pray tell? Read it? Please be real! I should waste my time while they waste my money printing this?

They claim not to have the money for the widening of Highway 95. What ever happened to the funds they had in 2000 when they just had to have my property, which they purchased at a token compared to today's real estate market. Well, live and learn. It looks like I am still learning and learning and learning …
