Bonner County Relay For Life helps find a cure for cancer
Wouldn't that be the greatest headline to ever run in the Bee?
On June 15-16, many area citizens will descend on the Bonner County Fairgrounds for the fifth year to raise funds to fight cancer.
The Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature event and has gained a foothold here. We strongly recommend everyone to spend a few moments at the fairgrounds to learn about the relay as well as what the ACS is doing to raise awareness about cancer prevention and treatment.
The Daily Bee has a team in next week's Relay for Life. The Bee has also allocated hundreds of news and advertising inches to get the word out.
So, what can you do to help with the Relay for Life?
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO!
1. If you would like to make a cash donation to the Relay for Life, please stop by the Bee and put a donation in the coffee can. If you choose, there is a sign up sheet next to the can so you can get credit for your donation.
2. The Bee is offering to produce a full-color mock Page 1 to anyone who wishes to donate a minimum of $15 to the Bee's Relay For Life team. The fake Page 1 will include any headline you suggest. For example: "Congrats to the U-11 Boys Strikers team for taking the Kalispell soccer tourney." Or "Congrats Austin on completing sixth grade!" Or "Happy Fathers' Day!" Or "World's Best Mom!"
The mock Page 1 will include one photo that you will provide.
These will make great gifts. Again, all proceeds will go to the Bonner County Relay For Life.
Stop by the Bee to see an example.
One of three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime.
Here's hoping that the Relay for Life next weekend will someday lead to a headline like the one on top of the editorial.
In the meantime, support the Relay for Life and while you are at it, why not make a few headlines for yourself?
