Eric Anderson's efforts deserve our thanks

| June 4, 2007 9:00 PM

I want to thank Rep. Eric Anderson, R-Priest Lake, for his diligence in identifying the serious threat of Eurasian milfoil to Idaho and for leading the Idaho Legislature in passing a bill that funded the efforts to kill this weed before it destroyed our beautiful lake. Because of Representative Anderson's efforts Bonner County will receive $1.8 million this year to fight this battle.

Some vocal local anti-chemical activists seem angry this funding was designated for killing milfoil and want to spend the money on unproven feel-good projects of self-serving promoters who are trying to make a buck on unproven technologies.

I, on the other hand, congratulate Eric (as well as the Idaho Legislature, the Governor and the Idaho Department of Agriculture) for making this legislation so tight that snake oil selling carpetbaggers from back east were unable to steal Idaho taxpayer milfoil grant funds.
