Hollis Stephen Whalin, 91
Hollis Stephen Whalin, 91, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2007, at his home in Oldtown.
Hollis was born March 26, 1916, in Henniker, N.H., the second son of Walter and Florence (Sibley) Whalin. Hollis spent a short year in Texas as a baby and returned to grow up in and around the Boston area. He moved to Tucson, Ariz., in the 1950s.
On Valentine's Day 1976 in the Arizona desert he married Elizabeth Altese (Poliseo).
While living in Massachu-setts Hollis worked as a volunteer fire-fighter. In Arizona he was a member of Search and Rescue, the Sheriff's Posse, and the Tucson Horse Association. In Idaho he served as a Boy Scout leader and a 4-H leader.
Hollis worked for the National Forest Service out of Priest Lake, and also for Stoneridge.
Hollis enjoyed rifle, shotgun and bow hunting. He also enjoyed camping and canoeing.
Hollis is survived by his wife Elizabeth at their home in Oldtown; two step-daughters, Nicole Perkins of Ketchum, Idaho, and Danielle Altese of San Diego, Calif.; and one son, Jason Whalin of Oldtown.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the LDS Church in Priest River.
