Homer I Price, Jr., 63

Homer I Price, Jr. (Jay) lost his courageous fight with cancer Monday, June 25.

He passed away quietly and at peace at his home in Sagle, Idaho.

At his request, there will be a wake held at his home on Monday, July 2 at 4 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jay was born on Dec. 25, 1943, in Waco, Texas. He was the first of three children born to Homer I. and Frances E. Price.

Jay had a varied and interesting life. He served in the Navy in Vietnam, worked as a nuclear welder at the Lockheed ship works, was a boat captain and engineer and crab fished in Alaska.

He and Bonnie moved to Sagle in 1998. While living in northern Idaho, Jay had a small business gating abandoned mines for various government agencies.

He was very active in bat education and conservation and had a booth at the Bonner County Fair for several years, specializing in bat education which earned him the nickname of "Bat Man."

Jay was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; especially the camping trips and watching them race their motorcycle and four-wheeler.

He was a remarkable man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be sincerely missed by his friends and family.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Homer I. Price, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Husted; his wife, Bonnie Arnold Price, step-daughter and son-in-law, Stefanie and Dennis Gmeiner; two sons, Vincent Price and Marcus Hays, two grandchildren, Corey and Kortenie Gmeiner; his, sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Dick Ays; and brother, Larry Price.
