Dorothy V. Yaw, 83, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Friday, March 2, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the First Lutheran Church, 526 S. Olive, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Pastor David Olson will officiate.

Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral service on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Dorothy was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Grant County, Ind., the daughter of Clifford L. and Goldie Mae (Strebin) Bowen. The family lived a few years in Colorado and then moved to Sandpoint when Dorothy was 9 years old. She has lived in the Bronx area, north of Sandpoint, since 1932.

Dorothy graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1941 and married Raymond A. Yaw that same month. They have been married 65 years and had nine children. She was a member of the Bronx Four Square Club, the Northside Fire Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the First Lutheran Church. She was a full-time homemaker, but did work part time at the Dover post office and for Northern Lights.

She is survived by her husband Ray A. Yaw; her nine children, Carole (and Mike) McDermott of Sandpoint, Donald (and Dianne) Yaw of Bremerton, Wash., Sharon (and Ron) Roget of Sandpoint, Luthor (and Ruby) Yaw of Sandpoint, Mary (and Leo) Addison of Sandpoint, Ray D. (and Terri) Yaw Sandpoint, Mark (and Vangie) Yaw of Everett, Wash., Kaye (and Kevin) Cogswell of Odessa, Wash., and Ricky (and Gail) Yaw of Sandpoint; 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; and two nieces also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
