Ventriloquists on council?
Who would think in 2007 that ventriloquism would have a surge in popularity? But, I wonder, when the business community speaks, how many of our elected officials' lips move?
Interesting … back in 2005, during the Sandpoint City Council meetings, certain council members were found to not have a conflict of interest while voting on requirements to be met by a particular business. Now, in 2007, these same people find it necessary to recuse themselves from voting on other requirements for the same business. Why is this? Advice from the city attorney or pressure from the citizens of Sandpoint? The people who live in Sandpoint, not the business community, can choose the direction of this city and help regulate the laws by attending meetings and being informed. The people of Sandpoint have to stand up and be counted or you will be the losers. We will be electing a mayor and several council members this year. We need people who have a vision of Sandpoint that the majority of citizens share; not just puppets backing the business community. Before it is too late, folks, it is time to get involved, get informed and be heard.
Remember, Sandpoint is a walking community; please keep your walks shoveled.
