Wake up call sounded for citizens of Sandpoint

| March 5, 2007 8:00 PM

Did you get your notice from the water department that they had dreamed up another way to get into your pockets?

I realize that most of us aren't as brilliant as our city and county officials but the $10 charge they plan on leveling against us is really stupidity at work.

In the first place, all new changes of address were initiated by the 911 system. They thought new addresses would make it easier to find us even though we have lived at the same address for years. Now 911 knows where I live and I am the one who is lost.

Therefore, this $10 the water department dreamed up is a fraudulent attempt to procure more money from you under false pretenses. It's time to stop the officials from trying to rob us. Maybe everyone needs to open up their eyes into all these "we need changes."

One other thing I've seen on this notice was a place for my Social Security or driver's license number. It is none of their business and I don't intend for them to have it. I don't work for the city or county so there is no reason they need my Social Security number.

Maybe the Idaho Attorney General needs to check into some of this.

The old adage of the squeaky wheel gets the attention is true, then we better start the wheel turning before they suck it dry.

Common sense is about all we have left. The rest of our cents is taken up by taxes, school levies and ridiculous charges.

Take heed.
