Bulldog safety lands scholarship with NAIA school

SANDPOINT — Former Bulldogs' strong safety Tyler Jinright signed a letter of intent on Tuesday to play football at Montana State Northern, in Havre. Jinright is the fifth senior to receive a scholarship to play in the NAIA's Frontier conference next season, joining Kurt Stoll, K.C. Abey, Austin Jones and Will Andrews.

Head coach Mike Mitchell wasn't the only coach surprised the hard-hitting safety hadn't yet signed a deal.

"The coach up there watched film on him and was shocked he hadn't gotten something already," said Mitchell. "He was one of our really good athletes and I'm really happy for him. That's a great place to play."

Jinright led the Bulldogs in tackles last season with 117, which for a safety is a monster total. Jinright has been working out and doing agilities with the rest of the team at the high school, hoping for a chance to keep playing.

"We've got a theme here: there is no off-season," said Mitchell.

"Tyler has kept it up since the season ended. He's lifted and is getting himself ready to play at the next level."
