West All-Stars boys cruise to win

MULLAN — Coeur d'Alene guard Calvin Peterson earned MVP honors as the West blazed past the East All-Stars 108-66 in the District 1 All-Star Game at the Mullan Pavilion on Friday night.

Both teams opened the fast-paced game hitting shots quickly as both teams moved out to a 22-22 tie after the first quarter. In the second, Peterson would score six straight points as the West team went on a 13-0 run midway through the second quarter to stretch the lead to 49-36 at the half.

During halftime, Timberlake guard Felix Schreier made 8 of 10 three-pointers to win the 2007 Three-Point competition, while Post Falls Trojan Brandon Hass soared above the pack to win the Slam Dunk contest.

In the second half, the West stars would shoot the lights out as they outscored the East 59-30 in the second half to win the contest on Friday night.

Leon Duplessis led all scorers with 20 points for the West.

Micah Smith had 16 points in the loss for the East.
