Farmin-Stidwell staff asking for support

| March 12, 2007 9:00 PM

The Farmin-Stidwell Elementary staff encourages you to vote yes for the levy on March 20, 2007. As a staff, we want the best education possible for your child. We are keeping our promise with the monies from the 2005-'07 supplemental levies. These monies did the following things for district schools:

? Updated curriculum.

? Upgraded technology.

? Expanded support for extracurricular academic and athletic programs.

? Sustained health and safety standards.

? Maintained staffing to support small classes and our rural schools.

At this time, we have 83.45 percent, district-wide, of our students reading at proficient level. In mathematics, we have 81.58 percent, district-wide, at the proficient level. Our high school graduation rate has increased to 81.77 percent. At Farmin-Stidwell last year, 91 percent of our students scored at the proficient or better mark in math.

Our district and school are great and getting better. To continue improving, we need local support beyond state funding. The state provides 80 percent of our current operational expenses and only 68 percent of our current overall expenses. We are able to provide special programs and opportunities for our children because our community has consistently supported our supplemental levies.

At Farmin-Stidwell, we have quality programs with experienced and highly qualified staff.

We have made record academic gains in reading and math because of the support that the public and our parents have given us in recent years.

Please continue to support us by voting yes on March 20, 2007.
