Sylvia L. Terry, 72, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2007, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Sandpoint Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2255 W. Pine St., in Sandpoint, Idaho, with Pastor Shane Dresen officiating.
Sylvia was born on October 5, 1934 and spent most of her childhood growing up in Asheville, N.C. She attended high school in Lynwood, Calif. She went back to school and received her high school diploma at York High School in Virginia in 1970.
She raised four generations of children throughout her lifetime. Her life was filled with the spirit of volunteerism.
Since moving to Sandpoint in 1979, she volunteered and held various positions for different organizations. She was an investigator for the Youth Accountability Board, Board of Directors for Women's Center North, Crisis volunteer, VISTA staff member, a dispatcher for the Sheriff's Reserve, and a volunteer for Gleaners.
She participated in the community arts in the musical productions "Oliver Twist" and "Scrooge." She was an active and highly supportive member of the Seventh day Adventist Church volunteering her time and avid sewing skills with the Pathfinder Club. She also volunteered for the Festival at Sandpoint for several years and belonged to the Red Hats Society. She had owned and operated a day care center called "Tiny Ones Only."
Sylvia fought a courageous battle against Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, which she was diagnosed with in 2003.
She is survived by her two brothers, Tim Cleary, Robin Cleary (and Laurel); and five children; Laura, Danny (and Jennifer), Jim Gragg (and Floy), John Gragg (and Elizabeth), Mark Gragg (and Annie); 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
