Allen A. Arndt, 61, of Edwall, Wash., passed away March 16, 2007, in Spokane, Wash.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Edwall Methodist Church. Graveside funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Edwall Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Christian Heritage School in Edwall.

Allen was born April 11, 1945, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Fred and Mabel (Bolstad) Arndt. He was a graduate of Sandpoint High School, class of 1963.

After graduation Allen worked as an apprentice iron worker before enlisting in the Navy. He served one tour in Vietnam with the Sea Bees Construction Battalion.

He returned home and worked for the Iron Workers Union until his retirement in 2002.

Allen began wheat farming in 1984 and continued until his passing. He enjoyed hiking, climbing, canoeing and building things. He will be greatly missed.

Allen was a member of the first Schweitzer Ski Patrol in 1963.

Allen is survived by his wife, Susan Arndt at the home; his children, Amy Arndt of Arlington, Va., Sgt. Barney Arndt and his wife Helen of Oceanside, Calif., and Anna Arndt at the home; a sister, Arlene Snyder and her husband Ray of Milpitas, Calif.; a brother, Paul Arndt and his wife MaryAnn of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; an uncle, Norman Bolstad and his wife Ruth.

Cheney Funeral Chapel of Cheney Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
