Bulldogs fall in tennis match
LEWISTON — Senior Adam Durfee and freshman Piper Wahlin won 10-8 in the tiebreaker to win Sandpoint's only match Wednesday as the Bulldogs fell 11-1 in their first match of the year at Lewiston.
Weather helps Lewiston get a leg up on the North Idaho schools early in the year, and they also hosted their annual tournament last week, and the extra court time paid dividends early in the season.
Victoria Johnson and Jessie Novak lost a tight match at girls No. 1 doubles, falling 6-3, 6-7 (7-5), 6-4. Justin Vaughn was competitive at boys No. 2 singles, falling 6-4, 7-5.
The road doesn't get any easier for the Bulldogs, who travel to take on another Inland Empire League power at Coeur d'Alene High School. They'll get a day of practice on Friday before heading down to face 4A foe Moscow on Saturday.
