Steven Jackson Guthrie, 51

Steven Jackson Guthrie, 51, beloved teacher and community member, passed away, Monday, March 20, 2007, in Sagle, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Sandpoint Middle School with Pastor Steve Nickodemus of Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating.

A potluck reception will follow the service at the high school commons area.

Steve was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on March 1, 1956, to William and Jacqueline Guthrie. He grew up in Idaho, California and Colorado. After graduation he attended the University of Colorado.

On Aug. 14, 1983, he married Heather Daleen in Niwot, Colo. The couple moved to North Idaho and built their home in the mountains near the town of Sagle.

Steve taught school at Sagle Elementary, where he was well liked and respected by students, staff and the community. During the summer months he owned and operated Pend Oreille Landscapes.

Steve loved the outdoors and spent time fishing, hiking, skiing, hunting, and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Guthrie of Sandpoint, Idaho; a son, John Guthrie attending Western State College in Gunnison, Colo.; two daughters, Isabelle and Olivia Guthrie of Sandpoint; three brothers, Bill Guthrie of Macao, China, Mike (Pam) Guthrie of Littleton, Colo., and Rick (Sally) Guthrie of Austin, Texas; a sister, Beth Guthrie of Lewiston, Idaho; and five nieces and nephews, Alexander, Kate, Sarah, Lilly and Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial donations may be made in Steve's name to accounts at Well's Fargo and Mountain West Banks.
