Douglas Eugene Bakken, 53, passed away in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Wednesday, March 28, 2007.

At his request, no public services will be held.

Doug was born on April 17, 1953, in Sandpoint, Idaho. He grew up with his parents Carol and Pat Lang in Sandpoint and attended local schools, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1971. Doug and Letha Hugdahl were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at the Trading Post in 1972.

He attended two years of college and began his career in the forests of North Idaho as assistant fire warden for the state of Idaho, a forester for W.I. Forest Products and as a logger for Phillips and Duffy in Sandpoint and McDonald Logging in Priest River before he retired due to an injury.

Doug enjoyed watching wildlife, hunting, fishing, tying flies and four-wheeling in the forests.

Survivors include his wife, Letha Bakken of Sandpoint; his mother, Pat Lang of Sandpoint; his brothers of Gary Lang of Portland, Ore., Brian Lang of Sandpoint and Mark (Pam) Bakken of Sandpoint; a sister, Carol Ann (Dan) Feist of Sandpoint.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Carol Lang.
