Clark Fork teammates racing to photo finishes

| May 1, 2007 9:00 PM

SILVERTON — Photo finishes are becoming the norm when Clark Fork teammates Leo Haase and Adam Denham go head to head in any distance race. The two have now posted identical times in their last three races together, and Cats' coach Rich Hannah says it's usually 50/50 when they race in practice.

Haase and Denham each ran the 1,600 meters in 5:07 Monday at the North Star League Track Championships at Sather Field in Silverton — the second straight time they've essentially tied in the mile. They also both ran 2:15 half miles, although Haase was able to edge Denham by a nose each time as they claimed second and third respectively in both races. Denham also took second in the 3,200 meters.

The Cats' Matt Belville won the 300 hurdles and finished second in the triple jump as the Cats just missed winning the boys' team title by a mere six points.

Bailey Hewitt won the 100 hurdles in 16.2 as she hopes to contend for a state championship in her strongest event. Moranda Becker finished third in the triple jump.

The Coeur d'Alene Charter Panthers won both team titles.
