| May 1, 2007 9:00 PM

Dale A. Davis Sr. passed away at the age of 82 on April 20, 2007, in Puyallup, Wash.

Funeral services will be at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Pack River Cemetery with full military honors.

Dale was born on Oct. 1, 1924, in Colville, Wash., and as a young man, Dale served three years in the U.S. Army Airforce and was stationed in Italy during World War II. Dale later worked as a logger.

He and his wife Esther and children lived in the home he built in Sandpoint, Idaho. Dale logged the trees, milled the lumber, and built the home by hand. The family later moved to Swan Lake, Mont., where Dale owned and operated a Texaco service station. A few years later, the family moved to Seattle, Wash., where he owned and operated a Union 76 service station for many years. In 1976, Dale fulfilled his heart's desire, moving back to the country and farm life in Edwall/Cheney, Wash.,, again building his own home where he lived for 30 years. There he enjoyed gardening; raising goats, milk cows and steers, and an occasional pig. His farm, "Pine Meadows," was a retreat and sanctuary which he enjoyed immensely. Deer and pheasant roamed the land, and evenings were filled with echoing frogs, howling coyotes, and vivid sunsets.

Dale was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a committed and faithful servant of God. He enjoyed his many years of attendance and fellowship in this community. A highlight of his service included working at the opening of the Seattle temple.

Dale's last year and a half was spent in Puyallup, Wash., with caring family, church friends, and loving health-care assistants. There were many special moments during this time, and we will be forever grateful that we had this time to share with Dale and care for him. Everyone that knew Dale thought of him as a kind, gentle, and loving man, with a very special spirit. We will miss him greatly.

He is survived by sister Pat/husband Bob Nelson; brother Kirby/wife Shirley Davis; sister Helen/husband Clifford Hall; son Dale Davis Jr./wife Maggie, and grandchildren Ariel and Eric; daughter Joanne Vandeway, grandchild Travis/wife Marnie, great-grandchildren Dustin and Madison; grandchild James T./wife Erin, great-grandchildren Faith and Jared.

Dale was preceded in death by brother Howard Davis, brother Robert Davis, and sister Lois.
