Harry R. Hornby, 87, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2007, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Visiting hours will be held, for Harry, on Thursday, May 4, 2007, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel from noon until 6 p.m.

Memorial services for Harry Hornby will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007, in the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint. Pastor Dave Olson will officiate.

Harry was born in Rapid City, S.D., on Dec. 9, 1919, and graduated from high school there in 1940. Following high school he joined the Army National Guard and his unit was activated during World War II. He saw action, with the U.S. Army, in Africa, Italy and Ireland.

On Aug. 7, 1946, he married Betty Reber in Rapid City, S.D. He worked as a carpenter in Rapid City, S.D., and for 15 years worked for the Job Corps in Box Elder, S.D., retiring in 1984. Following his retirement he moved to the Vay/Edgemere area near Sandpoint.

Harry loved his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and building houses.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint, the VFW in Rapid City and Sandpoint.

He is survived by three children, Ben Hornby of Priest River, Idaho, Dan Hornby of Priest River and Tom Hornby of Sandpoint; five grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

His wife Betty preceded him in death on April 23, 2007, after 60 years of marriage. Also preceding him were his parents, and two sisters.
