Bulldogs compete in Lake City Invitational

| May 2, 2007 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE — Dan Sommerfield broke 80 for the fourth consecutive round, and Bryan Keough shot an 82, providing the biggest highlights for the Sandpoint boys golf team Wednesday at the rain-soaked Lake City Invitational at Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course.

Head coach Mike Keough was especially proud of one of his son's best rounds yet.

"By far the lowest 18 hole score that he's had in any tournament, I was real pleased with that," he said of the 82, made even better considering the poor golfing conditions. "We did OK for today. There was a lot of rain and it was fairly cold."

Wyatt Pearson (85), Colton Story (91) and Nicholas Hawkins (93) rounded out the scoring as Sandpoint's 336 put them in third place out of four teams. Coeur d'Alene won with a 310, Lewiston shot 313 and Post Falls 343.

? Snow, Braun pace Sandpoint girls

Bonnie Snow shot a 111, and Morgan Braun a 118 to lead the Bulldogs to a fourth place finish out of seven teams at the Lake City Invitational. As with the boys meet, weather played a factor in the scores.

"The course was set up pretty long and that made it tough," said coach Jim Alsager. "The scores were up."

Michelle Stone (126), Ella Gentz (131) and Sandy Whalen (137) rounded out the Sandpoint scores. Lewiston won the team title, with Allyssa Nilson's 84 claiming medalist honors.

Both the boys and girls team are at the Post Falls Invitational today at Prarie Falls Golf Course. It's the final tune-up before they host Districts on Wednesday at Stoneridge Golf Course.
