Lost in the '50s is fabulous fun

| May 16, 2007 9:00 PM

The Fifties are, well, fabulous.

And getting Lost in the '50s is not only fabulous, but downright fun. From tonight's sold-out Rock 'n' Roll Heaven show at the Panida (featuring the next best thing to the real Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis) — the annual festival starts rockin' and doesn't stop until Sunday.

The ooohs and aaahs start at 6 p.m. Friday as the vintage car parade winds its way through downtown Sandpoint. Be sure to find a spot early on as the prime spots to check out these classic beauties fill up fast.

As in the past, the parade route starts at the high school, goes north on Division Street, right on Cedar, turns right on Forest, then left on Church, down to First Avenue and back up Cedar.

Following the parade, the street dance gives teens and families a chance to groove to some classic rock 'n' roll at the Jeff Jones Town Square.

If you haven't gone to a dance and show, which fuel the whole Lost in the '50s experience, you're missing out. Get your tickets and head out to the Bonner County Fairgrounds either Friday or Saturday to catch Johnny Maestro, Johnny Tillotson and "house band" Rocky and the Rollers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

The car show fills downtown Sandpoint on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Aspirin Rally-Run takes place Sunday with the 5K fun run starting at 10 a.m. and the car rally at 11 a.m. Both start at Second Avenue Pizza.

Lost in the '50s is one of Sandpoint's "must see" events — and, in the lingo of the times, be there or be square.
