James Frederick Melies, 73

James Frederick Melies, 73, passed away at his home in Athol, Idaho, on Friday, May 18, 2007.

Jim was born on Jan. 26, 1934, in Omaha, Neb., to Joseph and Dorothy Melies. After his schooling he entered the United States Army in 1955. Mr. Melies received an honorable discharge in 1962.

Jim loved animals and ranched in Colorado during the 1970s. He was also good at wood working and supported himself at times as a carpenter.

He married Linda Neer on March 26, 1982 in Reno, Nev. The couple were later divorced. Jim moved to Idaho in the late 1990s and his most recent work was with the Senior Companion Program through the Panhandle Health District driving the elderly.

Jim love to feed the deer and birds at his home. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, and camping.

He will be greatly missed by his friends, Thomas and Jeanne Ewing of Athol, Idaho; a sister, Elaine Skibinsky of Modesto, Calif.; and his faithful dog and companion, Sam.

Memorial donations may be made in Jim's name to the Second Chance Animal Shelters.
