Never leave anyone alone in your home
I recently moved to Sandpoint from Las Vegas. I've retired and wanted to live in a safer community. I'm sharing this information so this does not happen to anyone else.
I had a leak in my hot water connection to my washer and a plumber was called to repair it. A plumber called to come over just as I was getting ready to leave for an appointment. I delayed my appointment and the plumber came over. Making a long story short, this plumber broke the faucet connection and flooded my house. I had to leave for my appointment. I left my house in three inches of water, this plumber and one of the owners of the plumbing company, alone in my house.
When I returned, my house was left in a disastrous state and a huge hole in the wall. That part I was able to deal with — the part I could not deal with is one of the people who were in my house stole a brand new, not out of the box, portable DVD player off my kitchen table.
I called the plumbing company and was treated rudely by the person who answered the phone. I called the police. After the police questioned the plumbers, my DVD player showed up on the hood of my car in a plastic shopping bag in pieces.
The point of this letter is to remind people we live in a world of corruption even if we think not because we live in wonderful Sandpoint. Never, never leave anyone — I don't care who it is, in your home alone.
