Site should be named over motel, owners

| November 7, 2007 8:00 PM

We would like to suggest a name for the park where our parents' motel sat for many years. Previous to that they owned a shingle mill on the same property. Altogether it would have been approximately 72 years. We have watched the news as discoveries have been made on the property after Lakeside Motel was torn down.

Our suggestion would be to either name it Jones Park after Walt and Vera Jones or the Lakeside Park after the motel itself. My mom always said it was the best place in the world, one block from town and one block from the city beach. We were hoping that the decision-makers will see this letter and agree about the name suggestion. Mom was born in Sandpoint and said "never take me away from here because I have to die here, too." And they both did. They loved Sandpoint.
