Foundation finishes bathroom makeover

| November 8, 2007 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT — A bathroom remodel project in the main exhibit hall at the Bonner County Fairgrounds is complete.

The Bonner County Fair Foundation initiated the project in April, completing the project this month with the work on the floors. Those who worked on the project include Gil Beyer, Bob Wynhuasen, Linda Lacy, Roberta Naccarato, and Jim Corcoran.

The foundation raised about $25,000 for the project and acquired more than $6,000 in grants. They also held a successful fundraising auction.

However, the organization has several other major projects it would like to complete and needs to build a volunteer base beyond the four people currently involved with projects.

Those future projects include putting an epoxy covering on the main building's floor, building a commercial kitchen in the southwest corner of the building, and replacing the structure's roof.

Tillberg said the foundation is working on writing a grant for replacing the roof.

The foundation is in need of energetic, dedicated volunteers who would like to make a difference for Bonner County, along with corporate support and involvement from the community. If you would like to contribute to the organization, or if you have any questions about the Foundation, contact Maureen at 263-2413 or Jim at 265-4036.

The organization's next meeting is on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the fair office at the fairgrounds.
