Community's right to clean water at risk
Our community's right to clean water is on the line. Commissioners are meeting Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in Federal Building to hear public input on a 40-foot vegetative buffer along lakes, rivers and wetlands in the county's proposed comprehensive plan. I urge everyone to come support this important measure. As our area grows, the risk is increasing of more pollutants seeping into our area's water front zones and wildlife corridors. Prevention is key and now is the time for this!
Developers and wealthy land owners are opposing this because they fear it may reduce their property values. Monetary interests should never supersedes the public's right to fresh, clean water. Please come and show there are more folks caring about this important environmental issue than there are realtors in this county. Our commissioners need to hear from us.
