Celebrate season by welcoming soldier home
There is a lot to be thankful for this season.
As winter bears down on us, it will soon be easy to forget how beautiful fall was.
When spring finally breaks through the snow, many of us will forget the joy and beauty winter brought.
As the seasons come and go, so do people in our lives. Thanksgiving means giving thanks for who we are, who we know, what we have and, most importantly, our family.
This will be a special Thankgiving for the Sandpoint area.
Thanksgiving will be a homecoming for Sgt. Brandon Adam. Adam, 23, lost both of his legs in an explosion while serving his second tour of duty in Iraq in May.
There is a parade welcoming Adam home Sunday followed by a reception at the Assembly of God Church. Adam is expected to stop at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday near the Long Bridge. He will be escorted through town by the fire and police departments.
We are thankful for so many things this Thanksgiving. We are specially thankful for one young man — he reminds us through his drive and determination how precious family and home are, to give thanks for all we have and for our community and friends.
If you are looking for a special way to cap the holiday weekend, don't head off to yet another store. Instead, line his welcome home route — the Long Bridge to First Avenue to Cedar to Lincoln to the Assembly of God Church — and welcome home a special young man.
