Helena Kyllikki Raiha, 90

Helena Kyllikki Raiha, 90, passed away at the home of her daughter, Pirjo Mawley of Kingsgate, British Columbia, on Sept. 17, 2007. She passed away one week before her 91st birthday.

A memorial service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Sandpoint Church of God located on Division Street.

Helena was born in Vaasa, Finland, on Sept. 25, 1916, where she met and married Antti Raiha. He passed away in 1991 in Sandpoint.

Antti built their Oden Bay home in 1966 in which they lived and enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, berry picking and gardening.

She is survived by her sister, Pirkko Piirainen of Helsinkki, Finland; five children: Pirjo Mawley of British Columbia, Canada; Saili Volyn of Lenore, Idaho, Aino Leighton of Bonners Ferry and sons Rauno A. Raiha and Anders Raiha, both of Sandpoint.

She also leaves behind grandchildren Lori Wilson of Clarkston, Wash., Glen Volyn of Liberty Lake, Wash.; Scott Volyn of Wenatchee, Wash.; Kristine Jacobus of Valley Ford, Wash.; Jonathan Volyn of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Pamela Miller of Saskatchewan, Canada; Michael Mawley of Kingsgate, B.C., Andrew Mawley of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Michelle Mawley of California, Lynne Leighton of Frisco, Texas, David Leighton of Seattle, Andrew Raiha of Oregon, Daniel Raiha of Priest River, Idaho, Deanne Hargrove of Chugiak, Alaska, Yori Lim of Boise, and Andrew Raiha of Sandpoint.

She also is survived by 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
