Four win seats on DSBA board
Fifth seat heads to runoff vote
SANDPOINT — There will be a few new faces on Downtown Sandpoint Business Association's board following Tuesday's counting of ballot.
However, it will take a little bit longer — and a run-off election — before the fifth position will be filled.
Winning seats on the DSBA board for the 2007-'08 fiscal year are: Lenny Hess, Sandpoint Satellite; Jennifer Leedy, Century 21 on the Lake; Chris Park, Misty Mountain Furniture; and David Reseska, Edward Jones Investments.
Pierre Bordenave with InterMountain Resources and Frank Thieme with Cycle Haus have tied for the fifth position. A runoff election will be held within one week of confirmation of results at the Oct. 9 board meeting.
They will join returning board members, Grant Merwin, Merwin's Hardware; Kevin Nye, Outdoor Experience; John T. Reuter, Sandpoint Reader; Darcy Shropshire, Darcy Shropshire CPA; Ben Tate, Finan McDonald; and Gloria Waterhouse, Inn at Sand Creek, Sand Creek Center, Sand Creek Grill.
DSBA is contracted by the city to administer the Business Improvement District. The boundary runs south along Short Street, then at Alder it goes up to Sixth and then at Pine it angles up to the corner at the ball field across from Dub's on Division.
Every business within the district is required to pay "a tax." That money is used to improve the looks of the downtown with things like flower baskets, benches, trash cans and for events that draw shoppers.
