Alva Drennan Walker, 90

Alva Drennan Walker, 90, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sixth and Oak, in Sandpoint with Father Dennis C. Day officiating.

Al was born on Feb. 9, 1917, in Oakland, Calif., the son of James and Ethyl (Harlock) Walker.

Al served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy in the Seabees. He was honorably discharged and came out as a machinist.

He married Lucille Katheryn Tanger on December 14, 1941. They lived in Hawthorne California where they adopted three girls that she loved so very much. They moved to Sandpoint after Al retired in 1978.

Al volunteered at the Food Bank and loved the Catholic Church. He had a smile that would light up the room. Al loved a good cigar and a good crib game. He was in the V.F.W., the Elks, and the Knights of Columbus.

Al loved his family and is survived by his daughters, Susan Visco, Bernice (Jerry) Martello and Drenna Walker; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends. Also surviving are one brother and a sister.

Al was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life for 66 years Lucille on April 10, 2007.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Life Care Center, the doctors and nurses in Sandpoint who cared for him.
