Birds' gift is act of incredible generosity
I am writing in support of the incredible gift Drs. Forrest and Pam Bird have given to our community, especially for our schools. What an amazing opportunity to experience science and innovations right in our own backyard.
I learned recently that NASA gave the museum the handmade model of the Hubble Telescope, which is now proudly on display at the museum. Where else would children, have a chance to see something like this up close?
My family and I visited the Bird Aviation Museum in August. We felt very honored and privileged to meet both Drs. Forrest and Pamela Bird, who have and continue to make a real difference in our world of medical science and inventions. What a wonderful and generous gift by two very talented and gifted doctors. We need more people like the Birds to step up and share their talents and show our younger generations who their mentors should be.
The museum is set up for all generations to enjoy and learn from in years to come. Both should be commended on their efforts of opening and sharing their knowledge with the public. The life inventions, talents and works of Dr. Forrest Bird, along with several other famous inventors who have changed history.
I sincerely hope county commissioners will extend the use permit to April 2008, and the Planning Department will issue a permanent conditional permit for the museum. This would be a wonderful way to say thank you, to both doctors for having a dream to share their talents.
