County needs to let museum stay open

| October 10, 2007 9:00 PM

I am writing to express my sentiments regarding the Bird museum. It is not often that a gift is so generously given to a community of the caliber of the Bird Museum. Not only has Dr. Forrest Bird saved countless lives with the invention of his various respirators, but he has also, through his museum, paid tribute to many, many people, of all walks of life, who have affected nearly everyone's daily lives through their various inventions. Wealthy individuals often are ridiculed for their lifestyles, no matter how they spend their money, and it is very sad that the small-minded petty jealousies of a few interfere with the ability to appreciate a gift given from the heart and the big picture of true charity demonstrated by the Birds.

There should be no question as to whether or not the Birds should be allowed to open and maintain their museum. It is a fabulous and patriotic gift to all and there is not thanks enough to be expressed to them. They certainly do not deserve the difficulties they are fielding due to the malicious efforts of ignorant individuals.
