Monica Gunn, 72

Monica (Millar) Gunn went to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2007, in Sandpoint, Idaho, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1934, to parents Stephen and Alberta (Martyn) Millar. She lived 71 years in the La Crescenta Valley of Southern California. She moved to Sandpoint in 2006.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Larry Gunn, son, Kevin Gunn (Chris) of Lynnwood, Wash.; daughters, Teryl Gunn Riley (Sean) of Bothell, Wash., and Brenna Gunn Meredith (Drew) of Sandpoint; grandchildren, Aaron, Ben and Cory Gunn, Derick and Lauren Riley, and Max, Zoe and Mya Meredith. She is now reunited with her granddaughter, Taya Gunn. Also, surviving her are sisters in California, Marilyn (Millar) Sund, Anne (Riley) Windsor, and Melanie (Millar) Brown; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law in Spokane, Marlene (Gunn) and Walter Estelle; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.

Monica was an active member of St. Luke's of the Mountains Episcopal Church in La Crescenta, Calif., for 71 years. She was active in several Episcopal Church movements, Cursillo and SOMA, and made two missions trips to Africa in connection with the church. She also was active in community Bible study for more than 10 years. Additionally, Monica served in PTA, receiving the Honorary Service Award, Verdugo Hills Women's Chorus, Glendale Council Girl Scouts of America, and P.E.O., Chapter MZ of La Canada.

She attended Glendale area schools and the P.E.O. Cottey College in Missouri.

Monica was an artist, singer, leader and good friend to many. Her family and friends will greatly miss her strength of character, strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, encouragement and support, and unique sense of humor.

Arrangements for a memorial service are pending for late November at St. Luke's of the Mountains, in La Crescenta, Calif. The church office can be contacted for information in November. A memorial has been set up in her name through Elizabeth House, a Christ-centered shelter for mothers in crisis pregnancy and their children, P.O. Box 94077, Pasadena, CA, 91109.
